This session (25 June 2025, 15h30-16h30 CET), co-organised by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the ICE-convened Enabling Better Infrastructure (EBI) Programme, will exclusively cover investment and finance, focusing on the assessments and decisions made early in the infrastructure life cycle.
The session will delve into the prerequisites for enabling the widest range of relevant financing options for climate-resilient infrastructure, including public finance, public-private partnerships, Multilateral Development Bank financing, among others.
Invited speakers will share how they have considered financial needs upfront to avoid bottlenecks further down the life cycle. The session will feature UNEP and the University of Oxford’s recent report on “Enabling Adaptation: Sustainable Fiscal Policies for Climate Resilient Development and Infrastructure”, which examines key fiscal priorities, issues and considerations.
This event is the second in a series of UNEP & EBI webinars on sustainable infrastructure, focused on EBI Principle 4: Scoping ahead to drive success and UNEP Principle 1: Strategic Planning and Principle 8: Fiscal Sustainability and Innovative Financing.
The series of webinars provide an opportunity for governments and other stakeholders to discuss some of the world’s most pressing infrastructure topics, sharing experiences and lessons learned from diverse contexts.
